You can be proactive in tackling challenging situations by actively problem-solving and changing hurtful patterns of thinking or behaviour.
At your first session, you will have an in-depth conversation with your therapist about your goals, lifestyle, and behaviours to ensure you receive the best possible treatment. Your therapist can then create a plan so that you can successfully tackle your problems.
For the next 5 to 10 months, you will meet with your therapist to develop strategies to accomplish your goals. Each session will start with a brief recap of your last session and how you’re currently feeling. You will then talk about your progress in the past week and work together to explore new problem-solving methods. Near the end of your session, you might be assigned homework, such as keeping a mood tracker or practicing confidence in specific situations. This short-term, hands-on therapy will ensure you have the right tools for overcoming obstacles in the future. Sessions will be 50 minutes.
