Mindfulness & Meditation
We are constantly thinking of our next steps and striving to be productive every minute of the day. When we take the time to quiet our minds and reflect, we can achieve deeper consciousness and serenity.
Wear comfortable clothing that you can feel happy and peaceful in. You will walk into a calming environment and can settle on a floor mat or specially designed chair. Your instructor will lead you through some light stretching and breathing exercises. You might also be asked to think of a mantra to reflect on throughout the session.
As you begin your meditation, your instructor may offer suggestions for different positions to sit or lie down. You can choose whichever feels most natural to you. You may notice your mind wandering to your to-do lists or worries. This is perfectly normal; moreover, your goal is to be aware of these thoughts and to learn to find the emotions and energy of the present moment again. When finished, your mind may feel refreshed and energetic. Your class may be 20 to 45 minutes long.
