Panubli Hilot Journey - UGAT with Alab and Florence with Medicine Festival

• 90-120min • £150-£180 • 1-1 Session • 13 - 17 Aug

A Filipino ancestral healing offering, held by two keepers of the same inheritance. They hold the space together as their practice has always been held: alongside one another.

Panubli, in the Hiligaynon language of the Philippines, means inheritance. Ugat means roots, Hilot is one of these inheritances. An ancient Filipino healing art. At its essence, is an intuitive dialogue between the "manghihilot" (practicioner), the divine, and the body. An attunement to spirit, to breath, to the intelligence of the land.

Much of the pain we carry was never ours to begin with. It comes down through ancestral roots, inherited without our consent, held in the body, unnamed and unacknowledged. What settles from them is what's called "lamig", the cold: pain made physical, gathering as tension in the body.

Through this ceremony of intentional bodywork and the wisdom of medicinal plants called "Lana" an intention-infused oil of coconut and sacred herbs, traditionally prepared in sacred seasons. They are restoring life force where it has been fragmented.

The Journey

Suob — Alab and Florence begin with the fumigation. Herbs are gathered and the body is enveloped in fragrant steam. This is the opening. It clears what has travelled with you and prepares the body to receive.

Banyos — Warm herbal compress. Bundled leaves, pressed into the body along the lines where heat is needed. The body remembers it is allowed to rest.

Hilot — The reading and the work. They listen through the hands for "lamig", the manhihilot and the body creates a conversation.

Individual or Couples

Come alone, or come with someone.

What to bring

Nothing but yourself. Loose clothing if you have it. Alab and Florence would like to ask if you can come with reverence and an intention of what you would like to release and an object that symbolises this, which you are prepared to leave with them.

Panubli means inheritance. And what we have inherited, we can also release.

The offering is accredited by ThinkTree Hub
