Trauma can happen in a moment, or over a period of time. Often that initial trauma is left unmet or incomplete…it might be a trauma as a result of various kinds of abuse, it might be due to rejection, abandonment, grief or fear. There are so many forms of trauma, much of which occurs in our childhood or teenage years.

There are many kinds of responses to trauma…fight or flight, fawn or freeze. This can be a helpful coping mechanism at the time, but as we evolve, these same strategies can keep us stuck in the wounding and unhealthy, unhelpful patterns. The energy of the actual trauma stays within, like a trapped part of self…until it is set free!

Some people are aware of what has been traumatic for them, others don’t know what they’ve buried or hidden inside, but nonetheless, they’re stuck in various ways, not living to their potential or living a full or happy life. Symptoms of unreleased trauma may show up in various ways.

Everyone holds the energy of their inner child within. It’s these parts of ourselves that externally seek love, validation and safety, because as children people often feel unloveable, unsafe and not good enough.
